Charlestown Cemetery Lot Listings

This information was transcribed from 3×5 index cards that were given to Charlestown Library by the Charlestown Cemetery Association in 2012. The cards are grouped by the sections of the cemetery and then loosely alphabetized by last name. This list is in the order that the cards are. A few of the cards do not have plot numbers or names on them. The names may indicate who purchased the plots or who is buried in the plot. There are a few folded papers mixed in with the cards. These items have been transcribed as well.

Use the “find” feature in your browser to more easily search this list.

Information in [ ] brackets was added by the transcriber to help clarify information.

In addition to these index cards, Charlestown Library has 3 hand written copies of a plat book of the cemetery. A digital copy of one of the plat books can be viewed here Charlestown Cemetery Plat Book, Charlestown, Indiana 1903.

Common name abbreviations used on the cards:

Jno = Jonathan/John, Jas = James; Wm = William; Robt = Robert; Chas = Charles; Thos = Thomas; Geo = George
