The majority of genealogy and history materials are kept at the Charlestown Library branch. Each of the four other branches houses materials mostly pertaining to their location.

The library owns a large collection of items from the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant which was located in Charlestown, Indiana. Read about this collection and the history of the plant.
